Three generations of the Goodwin family have been creating peaceful holiday retreats since the 1950s

From Family Farm to Yorkshire's Most Personal Holiday Parks: The Goodwin Story

How It All Began

The Goodwin Leisure story began quite by accident in the late 1950s, when visitors to our family farm began asking if they could camp or bring their touring caravans. What started as a simple side business for Simon's grandfather and father quickly grew into Skirlington Leisure Park - the original site which has since been sold.

From these humble beginnings, the business expanded organically to around 1,000 units before diversifying into the five distinctive parks we operate today. Each step of our growth has been guided by the same principles - creating peaceful, well-maintained holiday environments where people feel valued, not just as customers but as part of our extended family.

A Different Approach to Holiday Parks

While the holiday park industry has seen significant corporate consolidation over the decades, Goodwin Leisure has remained proudly family-owned and operated. This independence has allowed us to maintain a personal approach that larger chains simply cannot match.

Simon Goodwin has been involved in the business since the mid-1970s, continuing the family tradition with the same care and attention to detail that his father and grandfather established. Unlike corporate parks where managers change regularly, Simon has been a constant presence for decades - and many of our staff have been with us for 30+ years.

"I remember when customers' children were small, and now they're bringing their own children to stay with us. That kind of continuity is what makes this business special." - Simon Goodwin

The People Behind Goodwin Leisure

"When you've been with a business for over 30 years, it really does become like family. I've watched customers' children grow up and bring their own families to stay with us. That's something you don't get in many businesses today." - Sue Arnott

What Our Customers Say About Us

Five black stars in a row, possibly representing a high rating or a score.

We purchased our caravan 8 years ago and have never looked back. The quiet park setting was just what we were looking for and even our collie, Lacy, loves to visit.

We have made some great friends on the park and when we are out for a stroll we really feel like we are home from home as everyone stops to have a little natter. We just love it here.

Keith & Janet

Welford Park

Five black stars.

We have been coming to Cliff Top for over 27 years and have always loved this site. We brought various touring caravans over the years and finally purchased a static caravan 7 years ago and has been the best thing we have ever done.

The sea views are just fantastic. The site is ideal for children and dogs alike and the site is very friendly.

Debbie

Cliff Top

Five black stars in a row.

What a pleasant site, close to Hornsea town centre. We have moved from a large commercial site to Springfield Farm, a family-owned site, one of Goodwin Leisure Parks.

We are on the seasonal tourers side of the park, everyone is so friendly, from the other occupants, all the way to the garden staff. The facilities are clean and tidy, the showers, toilets, laundry room are all maintained well. The staff are always very helpful.

The static caravan side is growing with an outlook towards the newly built fishing lake. If you are looking for a secure site, close to all the town has to offer, this is the place to be.

Looking to the Future

While we're proud of our heritage spanning over 60 years, we're equally focused on the future. Our commitment to maintaining the personal, family-run nature of Goodwin Leisure remains unwavering, even as the industry continues to consolidate around us.

We believe there will always be a place for holiday parks that prioritize personal service, peaceful environments, and genuine relationships over corporate profits and high-pressure sales tactics. As we look to the future, we remain dedicated to preserving what makes Goodwin Leisure special while continuing to enhance our parks and services.

Whether you're a long-standing customer or considering joining our extended family for the first time, we look forward to welcoming you to one of our five distinctive parks and helping you create your own holiday memories for years to come.

We'd Love to Meet You

The best way to understand what makes Goodwin Leisure different is to visit one of our parks and experience our personal approach firsthand. Unlike corporate parks with scripted sales presentations, when you visit us, you'll likely meet Simon himself or a team member who's been with us for decades.

We'd be delighted to show you around, answer your questions honestly, and help you explore whether one of our parks might be the perfect fit for your holiday dreams - all without any pressure or sales tactics.
